Women’s training camp – Moab, Utah
After a day of motor pacing on the valley roads, it was back to the mountains, with women’s DS Andy Bajadali planning a climbing day for the ages. The route took the team on a journey through Moab’s classic red rock peaks and along Arches National Park before winding its way into Utah’s eastern mountain range via La Sal Loop Rd. The rider’s snowy surroundings multiplied as they ascended to 8,000 ft in altitude. Bajadali had this route in his head from his days as a junior team DS, and it did not disappoint. The ride was extremely hard but a breath of fresh air for the riders who look to shake the cobwebs out of the legs after a pandemic year, but afterward, smiles were as abundant as sore legs. – Sam Wiebe
