Trust Yourself

Caitlin LaRoche was always active and competitive person. She grew up in a large family that moved around consistently. As a child her only outlet was Irish Dancing. In college, she started riding and instantly fell in love with being outside and simply riding.

What inspired you to ride?

I started riding by commuting to work and school on a bike out of necessity, but I soon found that I loved the freedom it gave me. I loved going fast and pushing myself.

Racing obstacle you overcame?

In my second year racing I had a nasty crash at the San Dimas road race. I ended up fracturing my pelvis, but as the break wasn't discovered immediately, it ended up being a couple of painful months, and I didn't race again for the rest of the season.

Favorite cheat meal?

There are these cinnamon rolls at the Village Bakehouse in Tucson, Az and I'm certain they're the best in the world.

Favorite healthy meal or snack?

Spiced roasted broccoli and chickpea wraps. I got the recipe from Thug Kitchen a couple of years ago and it has stayed in my dinner rotation ever since.

Tip for staying healthy?

Don't limit yourself too much, everything in moderation works if it makes you happier. That and don't keep unhealthy snack foods around.

What motivates you to ride?

I love how connected I feel to the world when I'm on my bike; whether that connection is to the people I'm riding with, myself, or nature.
