I was a runner in college, and after, I needed another competitive outlet and a way to make friends in a new city. Austin has a fantastic cycling scene, and an especially supportive women's cycling community, so it made it easy to hop into racing.
Racing obstacle you overcame?
I'm a cautious person by nature, so high-speed descents were a challenge for me. Last year during my first year as a pro, I relied on teammates for advice and steady wheels to follow to gain confidence.
Favorite cheat meal?
I try to not to categorize foods too much, but I love a good cheeseburger.
Favorite healthy meal or snack?
There's a Thai Quinoa Salad recipe I'm into that is the perfect combination of salty and crunchy, and is filling enough to be a meal on its own.
Tip for staying healthy?
A lot of sleep, and spend time in nature.
What is your #ReasonToRide?
Being on a team inspires me to ride, and my teammates are my motivation, as I always want to contribute to team goals. Also, cycling is more than just a sport; it can be a form of transport, it can be a social event, and I love that it can be a lifelong activity.
