We've all had some major setbacks in this sport and it really teaches you to handle whatever comes your way.

Shane Kline was introduced to cycling when his uncle had a birthday party on race night at the local Velodrome. That night Kline watched the races and fell in love with it. Later that year he learned to ride a track bike and has been addicted ever since. Kline grew up as 1 of 6 children and learned both the value of teamwork, and how to fend for himself – both serve him well in the chaos of field sprints. When not on the bike, Kline spends most of his time cooking, hiking or helping with the family business. A third generation woodworker, Kline still spends his off-season with his father crafting furniture as the family has done for the last 65 years.

What inspired you to ride?

As a young boy going to the local Velodrome really got me excited about racing bikes.

Racing obstacle you overcame?

Breaking my femur. After having it all bolted back together, it was a long hard road of recovery and physical therapy.

Favorite cheat meal?

Ice cream!

Favorite healthy meal or snack?

My go to quick favorite healthy meal is, chicken sausage, apple, kale with some lemon juice. It's a super easy and tasty dish.

Tip for staying healthy?

Eat clean and lots of greens.

What motivates you to ride?

My faith in God is my motivation. I see cycling as the perfect platform for promoting faith with athletes.
